The challenge was to introduce BetterUp AI Coach in a way that people would actually remember. Rather than creating a traditional software demonstration, I developed a comedic short film that contrasts a terrifying sci-fi cyborg with the surprisingly human skill of delivering constructive feedback.
Inspired by classic 1990s action films, the concept follows a Terminator-like character who tracks down an employee named Dave, seemingly preparing to unleash harsh criticism. At the last moment, the cyborg pauses, consults BetterUp AI Coach on his phone, and transforms a potentially crushing conversation into one grounded in empathy and support.
By combining cinematic storytelling, humor, visual effects, AI-generated imagery, and character-driven comedy, the piece demonstrates how AI could help leaders navigate difficult conversations more effectively.
The project served as an experiment in using entertainment and narrative to communicate the value of leadership and coaching tools in a memorable way.
